Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens
An awesome way to spend a few hours with the fam!

I am not really crazy about flowers, but there is a lot of wildlife at this garden. I saw a really bright colored lizard hiding under a bush to keep cool. And there is so many kinds of cactuses there! Oh and there was all these crazy glass sculptures around that were really cool - but they are not always there. But is would still be neat! There was a falling down mud house too!
Oh and there was an Indian house where you could use rocks to grind up popcorn seeds!
This is a gorgeous garden! I never knew there were so many different types of cacti in the desert until I visited. Like most gardens, it may appear different at certain times of the year. The garden staff provide a wide range of tours and activities for the public to participate in. Some popular activities are to visit the wildflower exhibit each spring when the flowers are in full bloom or to rise bright and early to take an early morning hike with expert birdwatchers in the "Birds in the Garden" tour. The curators and gardeners at this park take it a step beyond simple gardening and turn the entire experience into an educational journey!
I enjoyed this park because almost everything is included in the entry price, except food and drinks. There are many docent volunteers who lead tours and can answer questions; plus the center has a free audio guide tour for those who want to explore on their own. It seems as if this garden has activities to interest anyone. A sample of the tours and events include Southwest Cooking, Nighttime Flashlight Walks, Photographic Safari tour, Music in the Garden, and so many more!
