Nicholas' Review:
When you visit the Phoenix Zoo, make sure you see the Monkey Village. You actually get to walk around inside the habitat where the squirrel monkeys live! They swing around above your head, so make sure you watch out for poop.

Melissa's Notes:
The Phoenix Zoo makes for a great educational daytrip from the Phoenix area. This zoo is situated on 125 acres and is home to nearly 1300 animals so there is no shortage of animals to view and places to explore. The park is divided into many regions like an African savanna, a tropical rainforest, Arizona habitat, and more so that the park visitors can learn about the animals and the regions that they live in. It is extremely well-maintained and the animal habitats appear to be roomy and comfortable for its inhabitants.

The staff is knowledgeable and often takes time to visit with the park visitors and answer their questions about the animals. Additionally, there are many places where kids and adults alike can get up close and personal with animals through the park meet and greet stations.

Unlike other zoos, here you are allowed to bring your own food in coolers as long as there is no alcohol or glass on the zoo grounds. Knowing this in advance was nice, because we were able to pack a nice picnic lunch and avoid paying the high in park fees for food.

Instead of paying for food, we were able to use the extra money to participate in the many activities that the park offers like the Safari Train, the Endangered Species Carousel, camel rides, pedal boats, and more. Overall, the zoo is a nice place to visit, but plan your money carefully before arriving so that you can afford to do many of the extra items that this zoo offers.
