Jacob's Review:
This is the coolest thing ever - we went as a suprise - it is colder than you think so take warm clothes and hot chocolate - but you can see real rings around Saturn and so many different colored stars! This is a must see in Sierra Vista area!

Dad's Notes:
Palominas Star Haven Observatory is an amateur observatory - a number of astronomers have retired in Sierra Vista because of the great star viewing at this hi altitude, dry desert sky and lack of clouds. This particularly nice backyard observatory is also the location of the discovery of a comet.

Family owned small backyard observatory - a small building housing a 20” reflecting telescope and a few smaller ones. Discovered the first Comet march of 2002. Doug Snyder, the owner & amateur astronomer, originally from California moved to AZ to fulfill his life long dream of owning his own observatory.

Doug likes to share his passion of the universe, and is more than happy to give small groups a tour of the universe - so on a clear night coming up give them a call and if available he is more than happy to give you a tour. Doug doesn't charge but it might be nice to offer a donation toward telescope purchase / maintenance (they won't ask).

The show begins about an hour after sunset on nights when the moon is not out and the sky is clear.

Nearby is a great “Bird and Breakfast” along the San Pedro River area. The Casa de San Pedro online at www.bedandbirds.com (888) 257-2050. You can enjoy birding, hiking, cycling & Western history touring. Easy access to Ramsey Canyon, Tombstone, Bisbee, Kartchner Caverns, and right outside Sierra Vista.
