Denver Downtown Aquarium
Previously known as Ocean Journey Aquarium!

My favorite part of the aquarium was the mermaids! It was like seeing one of my fairytale books come to life. The mermaids swam with all sorts of underwater animals. They taught us about keeping the environment clean. Maybe one day I’ll be able to be a mermaid at the aquarium!
Ocean Journey Aquarium is known today as the Downtown Aquarium. Landry’s Restaurant, Inc. purchased the complex in 2003 and reopened it on July 14, 2005 as Downtown Aquarium. This entertainment and dining complex is unparalleled in Denver. It provides a truly unique experience for the entire family with over 500 species of aquatic animals housed in more than a million gallons of water throughout nine exhibits.
The highlights of the aquarium include an Aquarium Restaurant, interactive stingray touch tank, Nautilus ballroom, and a dive lounge. An upscale and reasonably priced bar is located in the Aquarium Restaurant. You can reserve a spot within the complex for birthday parties, banquets, and meetings.
The dining experience is fabulous. A huge 50,000 gallon aquarium is the focal point of the dining room. It stretches from the ceiling to the floor. There is no bad seat in the house here! You can nibble on an appetizer, indulge in a cappuccino, or enjoy a full course meal while watching fish from the Indian Ocean, South Pacific, Hawaii, and the Caribbean Sea swim by.
The exhibits are educational and creative. Mystic Mermaids is an underwater exhibit with live mermaid performers. They swim under the sea with the indigenous life while educating the audience about the importance of keeping the environment clean. You can even reserve a special appearance from the mermaids for a birthday party.
Several family programs are available via reservation. Wild Dreams Overnight comes highly recommended by residents and tourists alike. It offers the chance to spend the night with the sharks and stingrays while exploring exhibits and learning about the animals and their habitats. If you can assemble a group of 35+, you can schedule a private overnight event!
