Jacob's Review:
I’ve never been to a museum like this before! There were two really old farms at the museum. They were so cool! It’s hard to believe that they are both over 100 years old but still standing. There is lot's of people in olden clothes and it really seems like olden times. My Dad said when he was a kid he went there in the summers and had a camp there where you had to do olden chores and stuff. Sounds fun if they have that still I want to go!

Dad's Notes:
A working blacksmith, the clang of the hammer floating out over the clop, clop, clop of the horses walking by. That fresh barn yard smell, the chattering of the hens with an occasional pig squealing a comment. It is easy to imagine back a short 100 years when Littleton was new.

The Littleton History Museum has been the chief storehouse for the culture, art, and history of the city of Littleton for over 30 years. Although it is a small museum in comparison to others nearby, it is bursting with unique history and artifacts. The museum sits on 39 acres and houses two living history farms dating back to the mid-1800s. A small lake is located on the grounds as well as a collection center, main exhibition, and administrative building.

The grounds offer a lot of adventure. Interpreters work on the old farm site. A blacksmith shop and school run on the grounds. This is a rare opportunity to see farms over a century old in operation. Where else can you see a real blacksmith shop in operation? The kids will love touring the grounds!

The research center is always open for public use and contains extensive history about Littleton and the surrounding area. The museum houses a collection of over 40,000 significant artifacts. Many are used as education tools. The museum has an uncanny ability to display how people eked out a living when the city of Denver was nothing more than wagons and pioneers looking to strike riches. Do not miss the treasures waiting to be discovered at the Littleton History Museum.

Jacob Tip:   Museums are always looking for volunteers. You will learn a lot about history by volunteering your time to help the museum. You’ll get to meet a lot of interesting people, too.
