Bee Family Centennial Farm Museum
Family fun things to do in Fort Collins and Colorado State University!
Recommended by: Lilly (Age 8) and Lilly's Mom Megan
The Bee Family Farm was fun but too cold. I guess that is why they close in the winter. They have lots of fun stuff to do and look at but, my favorite part was all the animals. They have cows, sheep, chickens, pigs, and even some adorable little kittens I got to hold!
Looking at our beautiful scenery here in Northern Colorado have you ever wondered what it was like to be the first to see Horsetooth Rock or to jump in the Poudre? Or maybe you are just the mom sitting there thinking that your kids don't know how good they have it. Either way there is a place right here in Fort Collins where you can have that experience. The Bee Family Centennial Farm Museum is an amazing way to step back in time. The Bee Family came to Larimer County over 100 years ago and currently the 4thgeneration of Bee's are busy as, you guessed it, bee's!
Located just East of I 25 near the Budweiser plant. They have letters, journals, pictures, and tons of items from the late 1800's to the mid 1900's. You will leave feeling like you were back in time feeding the lambkins (just like the local mascot!), and all about the sugar beet industry (no I haven't switched to the Schrute Family Farm). The house form 1894 will leave your children feeling appreciative of their toys, bed, refrigerator, running water, and everything you as wonderful parents have given them!
Seeing the children learn what real chores are is worth more than the entrance fee! As I visited on a chilly October day even mom left feeling appreciative of the GPS that brought me there and the hot meal I was headed home for. I recommend making the trip out to the museum but I strongly suggest going on a beautiful warm Colorado day. Check their website for special events like the Vintage Baseball Game and call ahead for group rates.
