Buell Children's Art & Museum
Family fun things to do in Canyon City!
Recommended by: Christine & Adam from Monument!
I gotta say that I had a good time. My mom keeps dragging me to activities, and I'm glad she does. We had so must fun. They had exhibits that you can do things with. Watching my little brother explore was a good time. If you go before the summer is over, you get to see the fairy tale display. We didn't watch the movie, but they were offering one, which was cool.
I must disagree with the name of this museum, because children aren't the only ones who can have fun here. Although we didn't watch the movie in El Pomar Magic Carpet Theater, we did have the opportunity to visit the theater and allow the children to get up on stage. Seeing my boys up on stage really makes a mommy proud. I never gave my youngest the opportunity to play in different art mediums because I thought he was too young; however, when we went to the Artrageous Studio, he had the chance to play with glue, sparkles, ribbons and more. He had a huge smile on his face, while doing the crafts, so it gave me plenty ideas of what to do with him at home.
This summer was dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Brother's Grimm, and I must say, a great family destination activity. The collections are absolutely amazing, and the prices are more than reasonable. We even ate at Franco's Bistro, which provides healthy options, so if you're anything like me and always force healthy foods on your children, then this is definitely a wonderful option for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The restaurant is located inside the museum and supplies you with a wide variety of menu options like soup and pasta, which are two of my toddler's favorites. Plus, the food is not only nutritious, but delicious as well. They have the option to host your child's birthday party there, which I think would be a truly unique and fun way to celebrate.
