Pioneer Ranch - Pueblo Zoo
Family fun things to do in Pueblo, Colorado and southern Colorado!

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! This zoo had a bunch of animals like rhinos, lions and zebra. When I heard the name Kirk's dik dik, I cracked up laughing, but these animals were actually real cool. They're these little antelope. The elk were real cool to. And I hate to admit it, but the prairie dogs were too cute.
Well, Adam said it well with "lions and tigers and bears, oh my!" There were just so many animals to witness in their natural habitat that it was overwhelming, but in a good way. I loved the fact that the walkways were ideal for strollers. It's hard being a mommy and pushing a stroller on uneven surfaces or on sidewalks that are too small. This particular zoo contains over 420 animals. Of those 420+ animals, there are 140 species.
I loved seeing the penguins. They're my favorite, and I even got my youngest son interested in them. Although each one of us had our favorites, it was an enjoyable experience watching each and every animal from the camel to the panda to the otters to the lizards. The Pioneer Ranch is a wonderful place to take younger children. My toddler had a blast getting up close and personal with the animal. Because we went soon after May 10th, we got to see the new babies at the zoo. My toddler's face lit up when he seen the tiny lemur.
