Matthew's Review:
I've been to a lot of zoos before but Jacksonville Zoo and Garden was the coolest! There are really tall stairs you can climb all the way up to the giraffes head. You can even feed them leaves and they lick it right out of your hand! Giraffes have black tongues that are pretty slimy and they eat a lot of leaves. It was super fun!

Leanne's Notes:
Jacksonville Zoo and Garden is known as one of the best zoos in the state of Florida and we couldn't agree more. The zoo has hundreds of animals, and not just birds, snakes, and fish like other zoos in the state. There's also a great amount of information to read and learn when visiting each creature. For example, Matthew and I learned that his favorite animal, the red wolf, is critically endangered and at one time the entire species was thought to be extinct. A lot of the animals in the zoo are endangered, which makes seeing them that much more special.

I also love that the zoo has many hands on experiences. We were able to feed giraffes, go bird watching, and take a tour of the garden where dozens of beautiful animals and plants lurked. The zoo is also adding a new exhibit, called zoo keeper for a day. Children over 14 will be able spend the day with the zoo keepers, feeding, cleaning, and caring for endangered animals that are mere inches away. Matthew is too young for this exhibit currently, but we'll definitely be returning once he's older.

Jacob Tip:   The zoo is really big, so your legs might get tired. Don't worry though, just ask your parents if you can ride the train! It takes you all the way around the entire zoo so you can see all the animals without getting tired. Florida can also be really hot, but that's fine too. There is an area called Stingray Bay where you can play in the water with stingrays! It helps cool you off after seeing all the animals.
