Rylan's Review:

Mom's Notes:

Most of Biscayne National Park's 173,000 acres (over 95 %!) is covered by water, so having your own boat allows you to explore on your own. Boat transportation is readily available and canoes and kayaks can be rented. That being said, even without a boat, families can tour the Dante Fascell Visitor Center, attend an educational ranger program, watch a movie about the park, stroll the quarter mile Jetty Trail, or have a picnic along the water's edge.

An enjoyable way to see the park is via glass-bottom boat tour. Be prepared to see frolicking dolphins, manatees (especially if you are there in the winter), sea turtles and possibly sharks. Snorkeling in the shallow reefs allows you to get up close and personal with some of the more than 500 species of fish. Dive trips to amazing coral reefs are offered on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Family Fun Fest is a great way for the entire family to learn about environmental conservation and preservation and the wonders of the parks natural resources. This three hour event, full of hands on activities for all ages, is held on the second Sunday of each month from January through May. The park also throws itself a huge birthday bash on the last Sunday every August.
