Rylan's Review:
This is a really nice park. Had fun chasing the birds and swans around. Paddling the boat around the lake was cool, and those farmer people had some good food.
There are fireworks here sometimes and you can fly kites sometimes too!

Mom's Notes:

Central to downtown Orlando is a free, hidden gem: Lake Eola Park. Nestled among the downtown skyline, this beautiful waterfront oasis is well known and loved by the locals. There are many swans, ducks, and birds who call Lake Eola home. This is a beautiful spot to pack a picnic and enjoy lunch with a view, but be sure to keep an eye on your picnic basket as some of those hungry swans are a bit assertive! Remember to bring a camera as there are plenty of great photo opportunities.

Want a closer view of the avian life? For fifteen dollars per half hour, visitors can relax and tour the lake in their choice of a swan shaped paddle boat or an electric gondola boat. Lake Eola Park is a great spot for biking, jogging, or rollerblading; the sidewalk around the lake measures in at just under a mile per lap. There are several playgrounds for the children and a number of picnic tables and shaded spots to rest. There are several restaurants within walking distance. Also on the property is the Walt Disney Amphitheater which has concerts and performances throughout the year. Owned by the city of Orlando, Lake Eola is beautifully well maintained, and you can't beat the price!

Visiting at night? Check out the Lake Eola fountain show. Newly rebuilt, the original 1957 Lake Eola fountain was struck by lightning and destroyed in 2009. The City of Orlando voted to rebuild this iconic symbol of downtown Orlando, and the new and improved Linton E. Allen Memorial fountain was complete in 2011. The fountain entertains visitors daily with a water show complete with colored lights and classical music which changes seasonally. Free shows are nightly at 8:00 pm and 9:30 pm.

On Sundays between noon and 4 pm, the local farmers market sells fresh produce, crafts, and beer and wine! There is live music for your listening pleasure, and pets are welcome. The farmers market offers fun for the whole family, with great food at unbeatable prices.

Jacob Tip:   You should bring some bread to feed the fish and birds - even if the bread is old it is ok.
