Rylan's Review:
Zip Lining was my favorite part! I had so much fun mom had to pry me away to go look at the actual animals at this place. The birds were boring, but there were lots of cool snakes and I liked the laser tag a lot!

Mom's Notes:

Twenty minutes outside of Orlando lies the small town of Sanford, Florida, home to the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Originally named the Sanford Municipal Zoo, Central Florida Zoo first opened its doors in 1923 and has been in its current location since 1975. Situated on the St. John's River, the zoo features over four hundred animals from around the world! There is an alligator exhibit, a spider monkey exhibit, and many bird and reptile sanctuaries. On weekends, guests can participate in a special elephant encounter which will allow you to touch and feed "Mary and Maude." The zoo has undergone many additions in recent years.

There is now laser tag for the kids as well as a rock climbing wall and a carousel for the little ones. After a day outdoors in the Florida heat, the zoo's splash park becomes a welcome oasis. Don't forget a bathing suit and swim diapers! There is also a small petting zoo with some unorthodox animals; in addition to the usual goats, the kids can feed a llama, turkey, bull, and sheep. Food must be purchased separately for a small fee. This nonprofit attraction is constantly expanding; at the time of our visit an otter exhibit was under construction. If you haven't been here in a while, I think you will find many welcome new additions. Small children will be sure to enjoy the adorable "Champ the Train."

A miniature replica of the Florida East Coast Champion, Champ is touted as the world's finest miniature streamline train. Champ doesn't go very fast (we could have walked the zoo faster), but this little engine adds some character to the place, and it's nice to sit down after a day full of walking! The zoo prides itself on offering several educational exhibits including a real bee hive display and reptile feeding encounters on Saturdays. (Good for older kids, but please don't traumatize your toddler - the mice don't make it out alive.)

Adrenaline junkies will be happy to hear that Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens is now partnering with ZoomAir Zip Lining. For an additional fee, you can soar through the air, climb trees, and walk a tight rope. ZoomAir offers several courses of varying difficulty. The Upland course features 4 Zip Lines and over 30 elements of agility. For those with no fear of heights, the more difficult Rainforest Course is 50 feet high and offers 5 Zip Lines for your enjoyment. There is also a children's course for those four and up who would like to try their hand at Zip Lining! Great if you have a fearless adventurer on your hands.
