Daniel's Review:
When we first got here, I thought the place didn't look like the museums my parents usually take me to. I liked that I could look and touch jeeps and tanks that actually work! They have all sorts of neat stuff from all branches of the military and from all the different wars. The people at the museum knew a lot about jeeps and tanks cause they are all veterans. The word 'veterans' means someone who was in the Army or the Navy or the Air Force or the Marines. I think Coast Guard people are also called veterans.

They have lots of stories to tell about their time in the military. They have a bunch of neat pictures, weapons and uniforms to look at too. I heard that sometimes they show people how powerful the tanks are by crushing cars like we crush aluminum cans. That's something I would like to see next time I come here.

Mom's Notes:
The purpose of this museum is to collect, restore and preserve military memorabilia and vehicles from all branches of the military. The museum honors the memory and sacrifice of Texans who have served all branches of the United States armed forces spanning from the War for Texas Independence to present conflicts. History and military buffs will really enjoy the guided tours by veterans or military personnel as well as all the artifacts the museum has amassed since its opening in 2005. I found the personal stories by our tour guide the most interesting. Hearing their stories personalizes official accounts in history books.

The warehouse can get very hot, so time your visit accordingly. The tour takes around an hour and a half to complete. Call ahead to make sure the museum is open. The museum may be participating in armed forces holiday celebrations or reserve training exercises. Everyone who works at the museum volunteers their time to its mission, and all admission and membership fees support its operations.

Daniel Tip:   Some of the tour is outside so wear clothes that are comfortable for outside temperatures, and stay clear of any moving army tanks!
