Miller Springs Nature Area
Great Family Hiking Adventure
The stick ladder looks like the Indians made it. There are wild animals in the area because I saw some tracks!! I saw a rock that might be an arrowhead too!! I saw cactus, cliffs and I think some wild animals live there!
Upper Park: This is the nature area Jacob is talking about. A hiking area and Nature trail, right in Killeen/Belton just below Belton Dam. It is within walking distance of a Belton Lake campground. No bicycles allowed, but there are bike trails just south of the park. The plateau is impressive and goes down into a canyon. Local boy scouts have done a good job making the trails.
You can see really different types of terrain on this walk such as a plateau, forests and cliffs. Look close to see fossils within the sea floor rocks!
Rock climbing by permit only (has bolted routes). For permit info call the Army Corps of Engineers at number below.
Lower Park:Picnic tables overlooking scenic river pools, fishing, some unmarked trails, and some limited primitive camping sites.
Just below Belton Dam (on the Dam road), Belton, Tx

|Jacob Tip: Some of the trail is not as shady, so bring water! If you go camping or hiking and it is hot you can freeze some water in a gatorade bottle, then you have cold water all day, but you have to freeze it the first day before you go hiking!|
