Daniel's Review:
I had loads of fun at Toad Corner. It was a good thing it was sunny because I forgot extra clothes and I kinda got wet (well, I got a lot wet). I also liked the little houses by famous painters, the teepee and the Texas house. We got to have a picnic near the lake and later, we fed the birds our leftover bread.

Mom's Notes:
The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a 66-acre oasis of plants, trees shrubs and flowers overlooking the shores of White Rock Lake. It is the perfect setting for combining family fun and learning a few botany facts. Families can stroll through a series of twelve areas containing landscaped gardens, fountains and flowers. A crew of over 400 volunteers along with the park staff make sure that no matter when you go, you will find beauty blooming all around you.

Once you have worked up an appetite, stop at one of the park's restaurants or concession stands. You can also bring your own food including adult beverages. If you have little ones that still use a stroller, bring it. You will need it. You may even consider renting a wagon for little ones that have outgrown a stroller but may need a break from walking around. If not, just chill out and let them rest a bit. Wherever you stop, you will be surrounding by beautiful plants and shady trees or shrubs. Make sure to pick up a park map to locate the most important part of any outing with children - bathrooms! The park has plenty.

If you are visiting with older children, a visit to the DeGolyer Estate should also be on your to-do list. The 22,000-square foot Spanish Colonial Revival style mansion is on the National Register of Historic Places and also a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark Designation. The tour is included with the price of admission and runs daily on the hour or half hour.

The park hosts a variety of concerts and public events or exhibits throughout the year. In addition, the park has facilities available for private events. The Arboretum also hosts a number of educational activities from half-day summer camps, special exhibit guided tours to hands-on, lecture or demonstration classes for adults.
